Field Aerification
One of the best ways to improve the general health of your turf is through aerification. Aerification is a process that extracts cores of soil, thatch, and grass from the turf’s surface, allowing air, water, and fertilizer to reach the root zone.
This process helps reduce thatch, promotes root development, disease prevention, a more dense playing surface and overall a healthier turf.
Key Benefits of Field Aerification:
- Soften turf
- Increase natural resistance to disease and pests
- Provide extra support for tender root systems
- Eliminate thatch
- Level small depressions
Top Dressing
Top dressing is a process where soil or organic material is applied to the surface of a turf to improve the quality of the soil over a period of time. Top dressing can consist of a mixture of minerals such as sand, silt and clay. It can be an organic material such as peat, or a combined mixture of them all.
Depending on the condition of your turf, you may choose to apply top dressing monthly or annually. Applying top dressing on a regular basis until the desired effect is attained is the most effective way to improve minor surface irregularities.
Key Benefits of Field Aerification:
- Improve the surface and soil drainage rates
- Reduce and dilute the levels of thatch
- Improve the levels of smoothness
- Fill in cracks and gaps
- Increase water and nutrient retention
- Allow a lawn mower to produce a smoother and more even cut
